Emma fights to survive the icy water after her husband chooses a cat over her.
Emma celebrates her anniversary with husband Lucas, a fire captain, and his brother Nate, an OB/GYN, alongside Nate's wife Olivia. Their past obsession Madison Blake shoves seven-months-pregnant Emma from a pier into freezing water. Screaming for Lucas, Emma hears him dismiss her as jealous while he hauls Madison's cat to safety. Olivia pleads with Nate to save their baby, but he refuses, tending to the animal instead. Both women miscarry that night and file for divorce by morning. The brothers deny everything until security footage forces the truth into the open, but the signed papers already mark the end.
